Parent Involvement

Parent Teacher Conferences and Workshops
Parents show their commitment to their child’s education by attending conferences and workshops.  Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled twice a year. They focus on the child’s development at home and school and aim to maximize opportunities for the child’s growth and development.

A Planning Workshop is scheduled before the beginning of a new school year to schedule extra-curricular activities. Two Parent Workshops/Lecture Series are scheduled during the school year. The first is a workshop on the Montessori Approach; the second is aimed at enhancing skills in child rearing.

Development Committee
The Development Committee is in charge of finding ways and means of raising funds for the school.  Profits from the Committee’s fund raising projects are earmarked to purchase additional Montessori materials for the indoor and outdoor prepared environments and other development activities.

Drivers/Chaperones
Parents volunteer to act as drivers/chaperones for the students’ field trips.

Resource Persons
Parents are regularly tapped to share their expertise with the students. This is one venue where the students learn about the professions of their own parents and expand their understanding of the world and their potential for service in the community.

What our Parents are saying about us

“The education that a child receives at Montessori West Preparatory is second to none.  Dr. Gaabucayan and her experienced, dedicated and caring staff provide opportunities that help a child grow mentally, physically, socially, morally, culturally and artistically.  Every facet of a child is stimulated.  Small class size and individualized attention help children thrive and achieve at a rate that is faster than those of their peers in other programs.  A child who finds herself in Cora’s loving care is indeed fortunate as are her parents and family!” – Susan Kajowski, EdD, and Keith Kajowski, DC.

“The staff at Montessori West truly has a commitment to the full development of the child.  We feel that our son is receiving of highest quality education within the interactive and positive classroom environment provided.  The result is a happy, motivated and curious child, who we see learning and flourishing every day. – Steve Kemper, Network Sciences, and Jamie Kemper, Homemaker.

“Having begun their education at Montessori West at the age of 2, our twins will have the privilege of spending 4 ½ years with Mrs. Gaabucayan. They have been exposed to the wonders of the arts and sciences, culture, math and language. Their development is astonishing. They are developing a love of learning which will last a lifetime. We feel this is the best possible start to their education. Our desire would be to have them continue at Montessori West through their high school years.” – Gregg Hillebrand, Northern Regional Manager, Arizona Correctional Industries, and Stephanie Hillebrand, Director of Advertising, West Valley View
